Many who are reading this reside in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. For you, today is the shortest day of the year and the longest night when noticing the daylight hours. This creates a perspective of a long, dark day. For those who live in other parts of this planet, they perceive the longest day and the shortest night, so their perspective holds more light and activity.

Just as one’s physical location influences one’s perspective of daylight and darkness, one’s spiritual perspective influences one’s experience of inner light and inner darkness.

If one finds themselves in a place of discouragement or distress, the world seems a darker place. If one experiences joyful abundance or the flow of creativity, the world seems a brighter place. This emotional experience influences one’s perspective.

Notice where you are right now. Is there a flood of stress and concern or a sense of relaxed openness? There is no shame or blame here, just noticing the perspective. With this noticing, one has the power to shift and adjust. This sounds simple yet, in reality, this holds great challenges. To change one’s daylight hours, one must find transportation that will take them to the other side of the Earth to experience something different. So, too, spiritually, we must find transportation that carries us into a brighter perspective. What transports you may be different than what transports someone else. Just as one person might board a plane and another might board a cruise ship to take them where they want to go, you have choices.

One choice for you might be the use of gratitude to shift the perspective. Gratitude allows the brain and the body to shift and move into an altered state of being. This is not effortless – when one feels the depth of darkness, one might struggle to really have a sense of gratitude or to find things to be grateful for. Yet, with a bit of intent, one can effectively use this tool.

Another choice might be prayer. Again, this is not effortless. It takes a bit of a shift to become willing to enter into sacred communication. Often when stuck in spiritual darkness one may feel unworthy of that sacred communication. Yet, remembering the truth that Divine Source yearns for our voice (spoken or silent voice) allows us to break through that block. Once contact is made, Divine Source then floods one with deep connection that awakens the light within.

Another choice might be service. Doing a kindness for another person brightens both lives! A simple smile for a stranger in line or a kind word to the cashier or a plate of cookies to a neighbor grants a light shift that expands the energy of the world.

Or, you may wish to try all three!!! Gratitude, along with prayer, coupled with an act of kindness banishes the darkness and strengthens the light within and within the world around you. It is within this light space that you receive a new vision. A new vision for your own future, or for your own wellbeing, or for your next step. We will add to this in our next visit with you. We will take a look at what you might wish to envision for yourself for the new year.

For now, please feel our connection and our blessings we offer you. You are worthy of this, and we feel great honor in bestowing this to you.

Bless you!
