Phil just finished working on the wiring behind the TV a little while ago. He had gotten some new speaker stands and was getting the wiring cleaning up. For some connectors the bare wire wraps around the post then the nut tightens down and creates a good connection. The wires just kept falling off the post! It was just not working!

I held the light right where he needed it, and, lo and behold, this particular post had a hole in it where the wire went into the post, then the nut tightened down for the connection. Victory!

We often wonder why we don’t have a clear connection with Divine Source. Perhaps a part of the reason rests with us not shining the light of love where it’s needed. I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s really easy to be critical of myself (and others) and feel distant from Spirit. Alone. Walking through this life on my own and making a mess of it.

I’ve recently had that sore throat-cough thing that really took the wind out of my sails. Haven’t been able to do much of anything and in my come-from, ‘not doing’ is nigh unto a terrible sin! Sitting still garners inner contempt. “I should be doing something!” You know. The old ‘shoulda – coulda – woulda -aughta – gotta – must – have-to – always - and nevers’. Whenever we hear ourselves say these words, judgment strangles our hearts and minds.

Shining the light of love on ourselves (and others) allows us to disconnect from judgment and reconnect with love, peace, and joy! What does that light of love look like when we allow it to shine into our lives? It looks like a deep breath followed by a gratitude.

I recently learned a breathing process that really helps me. Here it is:  breathe in from the diaphragm to the count of 5, hold it for the count of 5, then exhale to the count of 8. Do this three times. Then, imagine/visualize 8 random things and name them. Like: butterfly, VW bug, lightning bolt, popcorn, daylily, toast, candle, star . . . doesn’t have to make sense. Just whatever comes to mind. See it. Name it. Count it. Then do the breathing cycle 3 more times.

(If I have trouble sleeping, this works like a miracle for me. Now that I’ve done it a bunch of times, I can get through one maybe two breaths and am fast asleep!) Repeat until feeling open and receptive. Divine Source/Spirit longs to connect with us. This process deactivates the fight-flight-freeze-fawn state of being and tells the brain, “You’re safe.” Life tries to keep us stressed, distressed, and distracted. (Doesn’t it though?!?)

This breathing process opens the heart, mind, body, and soul to be able to receive the light of love. Gratitude opens the door of our awareness and expands the connection into receptivity. Love abounds even when we cannot see it or feel it. Gratitude awakens the awareness of this Love and quiets judgment and criticism of self (and others). With our awareness open, we easily perceive the light of love beaming into our being. This Gratitude Breath Process shines the light of love into our being and activates that sacred connection. Once connected, love and kindness flows into our lives and into our connections with others.

Let’s connect in and let the kindness flow. What a blessing!!
