I’ve been trying some new recipes lately. I usually stick to the winners when it comes to baking, mealtimes, however, not so much fun to fix. It’s easier to try something new-especially if it’s easy. Admittedly, I’ve had a few meals that left me longing for a peanut butter sandwich. While other meals rated high on the ‘try that again’ list. (Phil will eat anything, so he’s not a good test subject.)

According to Yoda, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Yet sometimes we gotta test the waters first. Like a culinary test drive. Make a small batch of something before we commit to a church potluck or a family gathering.

Phil will try anything. Whether it’s a new food or a new hobby, he throws himself into it wholeheartedly. I am more of a dip my toe in first kinda gal. Yet, when I allow myself the opportunity to jump in, I usually enjoy the plunge. Fear of failure or fear of being judged holds me back. What helps me jump into a new recipe, a new perspective, or to try a new spiritual tool? Sacred Pillars of Truth.

What are Sacred Pillars of Truth? The truth of who I am. The truth of who I am becoming. The truth of awareness. The truth that transcends the distance between where I am and where I want to be.

Example: I’m a really good cook and baker. That’s a pillar that grants me courage to step into a new recipe. Or, I am open to new insights. That is a pillar that supports looking at a new perspective. Or, I am spiritually connected. That’s a pillar that grants me courage to try a new spiritual tool.

We have many Sacred Pillars of Truth that support our journey. Those pillars grant us the opportunity to step out of perfectionism and fear of failure. They grant us courage to try. They support us as we take a new step.

What new thing would you like to try? Learn to sing? Learn to dance? Learn to cook? Find a new relationship? Look for the Sacred Pillar of Truth that supports that. Like: A good teacher helps me learn. This grants the opportunity to learn from a person, a book, or YouTube without the need for perfection. (Phil often says that he is YouTube certified in several endeavors.)

Would you like to step into a new relationship? What Sacred Pillar of Truth might support that journey? How about this Sacred Pillar of Truth: Fidelity holds honor and power in a relationship. Even if you don’t quite feel ready yet, you know the value of fidelity-being loyal, true? You now listen to more than feelings or passion, true? You now value your own peace of mind and peace within the soul, true? These grant you the ability to perceive yourself and the other person with more than just hormone response.

The hard part here rests in being willing to try. Sometimes it feels easier to stay stuck in a rut or bored by routine than to take the risk of taking a chance. Sometimes holding on to more than one Sacred Pillar of Truth brings us balance, strength, and courage to move forward. Not only holding on to the truth that loyalty/fidelity has great value, but perhaps also holding on to the truth of one’s own value: I am and they are worthy of being treated with honor and respect. (The word worthy does not imply earning that value. Worth inherently abides within each of us. Working for it-earning it-implies compliance to someone else’s values. Run from that!) And add a third Sacred Pillar of Truth: Teamwork makes the dreamwork. This third Sacred Pillar of Truth guides you toward someone who holds the same dreams and the same willingness to participate in a relationship. The Sacred Pillars of Truth reveals when dreams are off or in tune.

Don’t have any dreams? Find some Sacred Pillars of Truth to assist you in this first: Life holds great meaning; inspiration awakens the soul; destiny fulfilled brings great joy.

Find what interests you and then ask yourself to discover the Sacred Pillars of Truth that could support this endeavor. Asking allows the brain the opportunity to seek. The seeking process allows the soul to bring the hidden truth to one’s heart. Together, the brain, the heart, and the soul activate the truth – The Sacred Pillars of Truth that support you now. And when we find that support, we do more than try. We find the courage to do, to be, and to have what our heart truly desires. Worth a try!
