I was just a kid the first time I saw a ghost. My grandparents had just moved and all us grandkids were out in the garage playing around. I went into the house and asked who that lady was standing on the stairs in the garage. Another kid said, “There was no lady there. What are you talking about?” When I described her, the entire room full of adults got quiet. I felt a shift in the room, finished my glass of water and went back outside never to notice such things again. (Well, until I met Phil. Then I felt safe enough for those things to start back up.)

I wasn’t afraid of ghosts/spirits-even that one I saw as a kid. Creeped out, maybe. Scared, no. They seemed as surprised as I was that I could see them. Someone asked me about a loved one that had passed and that person showed up! The person asked me more questions, and they either showed me the answer or I felt the answer or sensed it and passed the information on.

I never let on that communicating with dead people was anything other than normal.  Remember that old deodorant commercial? “Never let them see you sweat.” Best to stay calm and not freak out when someone is receiving a message from their loved one that has passed! After we left, I was a bit creeped out and Phil helped me feel grounded.

So, October brings about ghostly stories and creepy experiences. I find it interesting that people are spending more money on Halloween decorations these days than they are on Christmas decorations. Younger generations seem to really like getting frightened by scary movies. People like to go to haunted houses. I’ve hosted a few of those events myself, but don’t capitalize on scaring people. I’m more interested in communicating and seeing if they are ready to move on to the other side.

I have been very scared a time or two. Those situations dealt with the darker side of things rather than those beings that were just stuck and not yet ready to cross over. Even then, “Never let them see you sweat.” Fear only intensifies their energy and the power they can wield over us.

I think real life scares me more than ghosts do. What frightens you? That which we fear will appear. I don’t know who said that, but it’s the truth. Fear feeds the darkness and darkness feeds fear.

What defeats fear? Courage? Well, yes, but what generates courage? Many things feed into the courage that defeats fear. Like faith-a belief in something greater than myself that can and will assist me. And trust-the assurance that I will receive assistance. And believe it or not, open curiosity!! Curiosity allows me to move beyond being frozen in fear and move into the state of mind that generates opportunity!

Fear grabs us by the back of the neck and keeps us frozen and unable to move forward. Faith, trust, and open curiosity loosen fear’s grip and offers us opportunity to grow, learn, and be free to move forward.

Whether it’s ghosts or politics, finances or health, fear looms nearby ready to claim us as its victim. Send fear packing by remembering Divine Source stands ready to assist. With open curiosity, look for Divine opportunities to take a step forward.

Remember: Never Let Them See You Sweat!!
