Your heart can be a powerful tool for healing and a terrible weapon for destruction. Guard it with your trained attention.
One's feelings give you powerful clues as to your state of being. At the same time, one's feelings are based upon life experiences up to this point in your existence. If your feelings have been trained by trauma to expect and to notice sorrow and suffering, you will arm yourself with that awareness as a weapon. It becomes so easy to judge another by this armed awareness.
So how does one know what is the highest and best? Do our feelings not have value?
Yes, they have great value when they are trained by Love.
What trains the heart? The Heart-of Hearts. Your soul. Within your Heart-of-Hearts/soul/spirit there is Truth. There is Divine Connection within your Heart-of-Hearts that transcends your feelings. This Divine Connection links you to All That Is. In this connection, there abides peace, love, appreciation, gratitude, and joy. If your feelings stir up any other feeling experience, look deeper into the Heart-of-Hearts to really discern what is happening - what is the Truth.
Truth resides as neutral within the Heart-of-Hearts. It causes no discomfort. Yet, Truth becomes a powerful force for action. Action without doubt. Action without guilt. Action without fear. Action without expectation. Action of fulfillment. This action of fulfillment provides tremendous energy stores for you to use.
Feeling exhausted? Return to your Heart-of-Hearts and seek the Truth. (Not right and wrong, but rather Truth!) This Truth not only sets you free from any unpleasant emotional response, it also provides vast energy stores for you to access and utilize.
